As the winter season approac—*ha…*, *ha…*, *hachoooo!*
“What are you doing?”
What does it look like I’m doing? I need to blow my nose, says the narrator with a runny nose, surrounded by a mountain of creased and crumpled tissues.
“Oh, okay, okay. But be quick. The audience is waiting.”
“You know, we should get in touch with the company we got all these from. Maybe they’ll give us a discount next time we go grocery shopping. Or, oh, oh, even better, what if they give us a year’s supply of boxes for having bought so many already!”
Yesterday I caught the flu. Or the cold. Or some sort of covid variation. I don’t know, I’m not a doctor. What I do know is that I have never sneezed this much in my life.
It seems like this flu — or whatever it is — has decided to make an alliance with a few of my allergies and throw all they’ve got at me in the span of a few days.
At the place where I work, a lot of people have gotten sick too. I figure the vast majority of people are not doing incredibly well when it comes to their health this time of year.
I sneeze every couple of minutes. My sinuses burn like acid. And it feels like fever itself is resting on my eyelids.
Don’t worry, we’re going to get through this just fine.
Stay at home, but if you must, don’t go wandering out in the cold for too long. Wear your scarves tightly around your neck.
Have a hot chocolate ☕.
Watch a movie.
Read your favorite books, write, or play some video games.
Sleep as much as you can.
And relax.
Breathe — through your mouth if your nose is under siege.
Things are going to get better and we’ll all be healthier soon, I hope.
I can’t wait to get rid of this illness and go do my back workout that I was supposed to do today. That’s probably the worst of it, along with having to cancel my blood donation appointment this Friday.
We’re going to get back on track and we’ll be stronger than we ever were before.
For now, take the time to recover.
Wish you all the best.
☔ Here, have this umbrella for a rainy day. If you would like to support me, please share my story with your friends and loved ones.
